 Vacation spot - Detroit Zoo

If you are planning a vacation in Detroit, one of your main concerns is probably what the good spots to visit are.  What are the major attractions you’ll want to spend time at?  There are so many things to see and do that it will be nearly impossible to get to them all.

The music lover may find that the Motown Historical Museum is a good spot to start their journey.  Built into Berry Gordy’s original house, the museum showcases photos, art, costumes, and many other forms of memorabilia to take you back in time to the hay day of Motown.  If you prefer art to music, you may feel one good spot is the Detroit Institute of Arts, which offers the visitor glimpses of everything from mummies to modern art, as well as international items like African masks.  With over 65,000 works of art, the Institute has plenty to offer visitors.

Another good spot to visit when on a vacation in Detroit is the Detroit Zoological Park.  The world’s largest Arctic exhibit can be found here, with polar bears playing around in a tundra environment.  Perhaps you’d rather stroll through the rainforest with free roaming animals.  Whatever your pleasure, this interactive zoo has much to offer.

The New Detroit Science Center is a good spot to visit, having been expanded and renovated as recently as 2001.  This hands-on interactive learning center helps children as well as adults to understand many different branches and aspects of science.  While you’re there, check out the IMAX Theatre that was added during the expansion process.

Be sure to make a visit to Greektown, one of the good spots to get a taste of local culture and flavor.  This section of Detroit, centered on Monroe Street, offers ethnic recipes and is dominated by Greek restaurants and businesses.  With so much to see and do, you may want to plan for a long vacation in Detroit so you can hit as many of the good spots as possible!
