In the past few years, the city of Detroit has been given a new lease on life.  Because of this renovation, people have once again begun scheduling a Detroit vacation with terrific results.  But with so many things to do, it’s hard to decide what you want to see while you’re there!

The Motown Historical Museum is one location that is a must or any Detroit vacation.  Motown changed the face of music, and this museum, full of memorabilia from hit Motown artists like the Supremes and the Temptations, is a fun, historical site.  Also make sure that the Detroit Zoo is on your list of things to do.  The Arctic Exhibit with the polar bears and the ape exhibit are favorites for all to enjoy.

Your list of things to do should on a Detroit vacation also include a trip to Greece – Detroit’s Greek Town!  Greek Town is a small part of the city that is full of shops and restaurants that are predominantly Greek.  This area is full of cultural enhancements to broaden your horizons and entertain

Be sure to sneak over to the Henry Ford Museum.  If this isn’t on your list of things to do, you are missing out on your Detroit vacation!  Besides its collection of exhibits and artifacts related to the Ford Motor Company, the museum also showcases a locomotive, a 1930’s kitchen, the chair Lincoln was sitting in when assassinated, and the desk Edgar Allen Poe wrote at, plus much more!

If you like architecture, your list of things to do should include a visit to the Renaissance Building.  Detroit’s tallest building is visible from most of the city, with an observation tower on the 72^nd floor.  The building was first built in 1976 and now houses the General Motor’s world headquarters.

If you like shopping, the Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi is easily accessible from Detroit and houses mid- and upper-level retailers.  The Somerset Collection is Michigan’s most upscale mall, with the stores often being referred to as “works of art”.  Think Nordstrom, Ralph Lauren, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany, and Neiman-Marcus.  If you are a fan of designer wear, this location is a must on your list of things to do on your Detroit vacation.
